Skype Old Version

I think I have the best of old versions and I will put it for everybody here .

I also googled a lot for this old Skype .deb version ( in my computer it works like a charm, in Ubuntu 8.04 ) therefore I wanted to be sure that it is old enough ( immediately after Ubuntu hardy being released or alike ) , so that I could easily upgrade it if needed thereafter.

I re-installed the Ubuntu 8.04..4 (last version of Hardy) then I googled the name of the package 2.0.0.68 so I found it in an alternate repository ;)

Look at the description of this version :

  1. Yea! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have Ubuntu 9.10 and for several weeks I have not been able to use the Skype update, and it has been very very frustrating. After considerable investigation, reinstalling, etc. I almost went back to Windows because if this awful new Skype version with Palse Audio as a default. No one I called could hear me...a complete mess. This installation of the older version has fixed all issues.

  3. Thank you for posting this.

I haven't tried the file yet, but this is wonderful. I have no idea why Skype don't post a listing of their previous versions. Linux users are constantly after this kind of thing.

  5. This is the version which works instantly in 8.04 LTS. Newer versions are keeping nagging about audio drivers.

  6. You're amazing, thanks so much for putting this deb online. Rolling back to this older Skype fixes the "growling" bug which I (and many other Linux users) have struggled with in the newest version :)

  8. Thank God. I stupidly 'updated' Skype to find the interface is dreadful and cumbersome, passwords weren't remembered, and older features like easily switching accounts no longer provided. Shouldn't updates ADD features rather than take them away???

  9. Hi. Is there any chance that skype-debian_2.0.0.68-1_i386.deb is still available somewhere? I DESPERATELY need it. I've tried everything, I need skype to run on a 8.04 and even installing a static won't work.
